Song Spotlight
Toad the Wet Sprocket took their name from a Monty Python sketch in which a journalist delivers a nonsensical music news report. As the band’s first gig approached, they still didn’t have a name, so the members facetiously adopted Toad the Wet Sprocket because they thought it would be “hilarious.” Thirty years later, they’re still making music and just finished up a fall tour. In 1995, they released In Light Syrup filled with B-sides and rare tracks. You might also remember hearing it on the TV show Friends. Eventually peaking at #19, it’s Good Intentions at #24.
