After Jefferson Airplane’s final album in 1972, several members left the band and formed a new group called Jefferson Starship. They released numerous successful records in the ‘70s and early ‘80s. Their biggest being 1975’s Red Octopus which reached #1 on the Billboard 200. From it, their highest-charting single before the band changed their name for the final time to Starship.
