Song Spotlight

Climax Blues Band – Couldn’t Get It Right

Formed in Stafford, England, in 1967 as the Climax Chicago Blues Band, they decided to shorten their name a few years later for fear of being confused with another up and coming group at the time called Chicago. They might have had a new name, but the record label for the Climax Blues Band told them that their 1976 album Gold Plated lacked a standout track and asked them to try and write a hit. According to their bassist Derek Holt, the song came from, “from absolutely nowhere.” And this week, it enters our chart at #46 with Couldn’t Get It Right.
