What a brilliant episode of the The State of VO hosted by The Society of Voice Arts and Sciences (SOVAS) on yesterday with special guest: actor, director, producer, JB Blanc. His straightforward and upfront answers to our questions were as refreshing as ever. Especially when asked, “What’s the secret to being successful in voiceover?” To which he replied, “Work your ass off!” — There are no shortcuts!

JB is one of the most prolific voice directors of video games for major houses like Blizzard, Fortnite, and League of Legends voicing video games such as Dante’s Inferno, Darksiders, Wildstar , James Bond 007: From Russia with Love, Saints Row IV, Titanfall and he is currently voicing Caustic in Apex Legends.
His many on-camera screen credits include Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Cold Case, CSI: New York, Raising the Bar, The Unit, Crash, NYPD Blue, Prison Break, Dr. Vegas and The Company.
JB was born in Paris and moved to England with his mother at the age of five, where he was educated at Bramcote School in Scarborough, North Yorkshire and Sedbergh School in Sedbergh, Cumbria. At the age of 16, he successfully auditioned for the National Youth Theatre. In 1987, he was accepted at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), the youngest person to do so that year. He graduated in 1990 and, after a short sabbatical traveling, began his theatre career.

The State of VO is hosted by SOVAS’ Joan Baker and Rudy Gaskins along with Marc Guss of ACM Talent.
