In 1954 General Mills created a fruity sugar-coated version of its Kid Tested, Mother Approved cereal, Kix. The original cereal consisted of three fruit flavors and was 46% sugar. In 1959 an animal mascot was created whose attempts to get a bowl of cereal were always blocked with a message that it was only for kids. Over the years he tried many disguises, and even enlisted the help of Bugs Bunny. Can you guess this General Mills cereal? Take a listen to the show below for the answer.
Song Spotlight
A departure from this band’s heavy rock releases like You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet and Takin’ Care of Business our #18 song didn’t not perform very well for Bachman–Turner Overdrive on the pop charts only peaking at #65, but over on the Adult Contemporary chart, well, it was another story. Eventually peaking at #15, in his book, Randy Bachman’s Vinyl Tap Stories, Randy said “The song gave me a chance for me to stretch out a bit on the guitar. It’s still among my most requested live songs, and made the transition to my jazz career.” In this week’s song spotlight, it’s BTO and Lookin’ Out For #1.
