Gregg Alexander of the New Radicals originally recorded this song by Santana, but album producer Clive Davis felt a female voice would maximize the song’s appeal so a recording of it with Tina Turner was completed. When Tina declined to participate in making a video for the track, Clive recruited Macy Gray although he wasn’t satisfied with that version. Clive knew exactly what he was doing when Michelle Branch was asked to record the song as it hit #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. And it’s your Love Song of the Day: The Game Of Love.
