In 1990, Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, who make up the British duo Everything but the Girl, enlisted the talents of Grammy-winning producer Tommy LiPuma for their fifth album, “The Language of Life.” Tommy’s impressive resume included working with renowned artists such as Barbra Streisand, Miles Davis, and George Benson, and he would later go on to lead the largest jazz label in the world, Verve Music Group,. He brought in jazz greats Stan Getz, Kirk Whalum, and Joe Sample for the record, which resulted in two Top 40 singles on the Adult Contemporary chart. One of which is your Love Song of the Day: “Driving.”
