The first time Robert John appeared on the charts he was 12 years old and the year was 1958. Known as Bobby Pedrick, Jr., he hit #74 on the Hot 100 with a song called White Bucks And Saddle Shoes. Twenty-one years later, Robert held the record for the longest span of time between an artist’s debut and their first #1 hit, which was eventually broken in 1984 by Tina Turner’s What’s Love Got To Do With It. The song that helped Robert with the honor was one of the few chart-topping singles of 1979 that had no disco beat or influence. Your Love Song of the Day is Sad Eyes.
