Paul Weller, the former singer of the English punk rock band The Jam, disbanded the group to take his music into a more soulful direction. So, he joined up with keyboardist Mick Talbot of Dexys Midnight Runners and backing singer for Wham!, Dee C. Lee. Together they formed The Style Council. In 1984, the band undertook a brief tour of the United States which led to Top 40 success for two singles on the Adult Contemporary Chart one of which is your Love Song of the Day: You’re the Best Thing.
